01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled along the scenic route connecting Tresché Conca to Asiago, Bar Ortigara dal 1860 is more than just an espresso bar—it's a charming local haven that perfectly blends mountain tradition with tasteful elegance. Located at Via Monte Ortigara, 5 in Canove di Roana, this historic spot has retained its authentic alpine charm while offering a warm, welcoming atmosphere that invites visitors to pause and savor the moment.

From the moment you step inside, the inviting wooden interiors and thoughtfully curated mountain-inspired decor create an ambiance that feels both cozy and refined. As Sara aptly describes, the wood accents and tasteful design make it an aesthetically pleasing retreat from the everyday hustle.

The true star here, however, is the experience of enjoying a perfectly crafted coffee or a delightful pastry. As Edoardo points out, the brioche, while not from a traditional pastry shop, have a genuine homemade appeal—light, flaky, and ideal companions to a rich espresso or a creamy hot chocolate topped with fresh whipped cream. The coffee itself, robust and carefully prepared, highlights the bar’s expertise and dedication to quality.

This spot is clearly a local favourite, drawing early risers like Armando Matteazzi who note it’s bustling before 5 AM, thanks to not only the excellent offerings but also the friendly and attentive owners. It’s easy to see why, with staff who are quick yet warmly accommodating, ensuring every guest feels welcome even during busy hours.

Practical amenities such as the small parking area right in front—and additional spaces just 50 meters ahead—make visiting convenient. Fabrizio Testoni's praise of the bar's impeccable location and the attentive staff reinforces its status as a must-visit stop on the Altopiano, especially appreciated by those who value a serene environment free from the distractions of pets and strollers typical of the high-season crowd.

Whether you’re seeking a wholesome breakfast, a tempting mid-afternoon treat, or simply a peaceful place to enjoy a quality espresso in a beautifully crafted setting, Bar Ortigara dal 1860 stands out as a genuine gem. It’s a place that makes you feel connected to the landscape and local culture, inviting you to return again and again for that unique blend of taste, tradition, and heartfelt hospitality.

Tappa fissa.
